Truss Design

Also in my sophomore year, I took GEEN 2851 which is a designed based Statics Course. In this class, we are not only taught statics, but we get to apply statics by creating a truss. The truss we create must be able to withstand 1000 lbs of force and be made of only wood and glue.

This project was difficult in designing and construction. Firstly, we had to come up with a design for our truss. The design had to be simple enough for us to create, yet complex enough to withstand the force. Construction was difficult because taking 2D drawings and creating a 3D truss was not easy. Designing the gusset plates to hold the members together was quite the task.
